According to Kay Lockwood of Friends of KwaBhekilanga, the sports fields are of the few in Alexandra that cater to both soccer and rugby. It is also used by the local community for music events, athletics and personal training purposes.

“As these trees grow, they will play an important role of enhancing the environment by combating soil erosion, creating a green bet in the neighbourhood and providing shade for spectators,” Lockwood said.
