Young artists wait to hear if they made the cut


The judging process of the 2018 BIC Art Master Talent Search is in full swing to choose the winner who will be announced in early September.

More than 500 entries were received at the close of the entry period of the competition on 31 July. The competition was open to all schoolchildren and college and varsity students, including those in art schools.

Last year’s winner of the competition, 29-year-old Samkelo Gasa of Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, attended all three open days ahead of the opening for the acceptance of entries for the competition.

First prize is R30 000 while the second prize is a Nikon camera bundle worth R8 000. The third prize winner gets an artistry kit valued at R3 000. All 17 finalists chosen after the judging sessions will each receive R2 000.
