A successful actress from Alexandra, Refilwe “Fifi” Petersen in partnership with the Olive Tree Theatre, hosted the first session of Friday Script Reading.
According to Petersen, the Friday Script Reading session, which was held at the Olive Tree Theatre on Friday 13 July, was aimed at helping young local aspiring actors to receive the basic script reading skills, which will help them sharpen their acting skills.
“We’ve realised that many of our township’s young stars are struggling when attending auditions not because they don’t have the required talent, but simply because they lack basic script reading skills and a general knowledge of acting,” she said
“With this initiative that we start today we want to help them acquire those small and simple things, like script reading to prepare them for an industry,” Petersen said.
“A 19-year-old Lindokuhle “Pontsho” Msindo from 1st Avenue who participated in the session said he was very grateful to have been offered such an opportunity to sharpen his acting skill.”
“The session was an eye-opener for me. I learned about the importance of script reading and body language when performing. I am very grateful for the initiative, ” said Msindo.
Petersen said the Friday Script Reading Sessions will be held at the theatre every Friday and encourages all young aspiring actors to take advantage of the initiative.
