Minor’s robber nabbed in East Bank Park

A minor was lucky to retrieve one of her cellphones after a suspected robber was apprehended by members of the public in East Bank Park.

The suspect, who was with an accomplice who escaped, is in custody pending further investigation.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the suspect would be part of an identity parade so that victims and witnesses of similar robberies may be able to single him out.

In this latest incident, Kodisang said the suspects held up the victim in the park at gunpoint at about 2pm on 1 October and robbed her of two cellphones and her takkies.

When witnesses saw what was happening and approached the suspects, they ran away but the one was apprehended. His accomplice escaped with one cellphone, the victim’s takkies and the gun.
