Baroka FC delivers kit to Winnie Mandela Secondary School in Tembisa

Baroka FC are welcomed with a song to the Winnie Mandela Secondary School by its schoolchildren.

Newcomers to the Premier Soccer League, Baroka Football Club and their sponsor, Two Mountains Financial Services, have officially adopted the Winnie Mandela Secondary School in Tembisa.

The club and sponsor, who said they firmly believed in giving back to communities, were introduced to the school through a Superfan campaign the team ran to promote passionate supporters of the beautiful game.

“As a corporate citizen and community participant, Two Mountains believes that great things can start from small beginnings; and its growth story is one of perseverance and development from the dusty streets of Limpopo, to an industry player that is making its mark across the country,” said chief executive officer of Two Mountains Financial Services, Chris Chakaipa.

It is this belief that drives Two Mountains’ philosophy that it not only provides customer services, but it also plays its part as a community developer and builder within its areas of operation, Chakaipa added.

He said the company’s involvement in the empowerment of the school speaks to the organisation’s founding and operating principles, ‘that as we grow we continue to build’.

Chakaipa said his company was a community-centred organisation that continually reflected and entertained sports development and outreach work of Baroka and went as far as even adopting communities within their business operations.

“We are proud to have the Winnie Mandela Secondary School as an adoptee, because even with its current constraints, the school continues to perform and develop scholars in the community,” he said.

Through the Superfan campaign, Baroka and Two Mountains will help the school to develop its sporting infrastructure and also hold coaching clinics from time to time.

A soccer kit was handed to the school as well during this visit.

The Superfan campaign is a call-to-action by Baroka FC where fans are invited to share their passion for the club and their community by nominating a community project that they believe could benefit from assistance and funding, and the school was nominated by Raymond Mabala of the Baroka FC’s Tembisa Branch.
