Copper thieves caught in the act while rolling copper wire in Alexandra

Alex police officers nabbed five suspected copper cable thieves.

The police, acting on a tip-off, pounced on the suspects while they were rolling copper wire into bundles and arrested them on 11 March on the corner of 3rd Avenue and Vincent Tshabalala Road.

The five suspects, aged between 25 and 40, were remanded in custody and will reappear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 24 March.

The value of the copper was not disclosed.
