JOBURG – The Premier Soccer League has announced the fixtures for the opening round of the 2015/16 Absa Premiership season.

Kaizer Chiefs will begin their title defence where they ended it last season as they travel away to Chippa United on the opening weekend of the 2015/16 Absa Premiership season set for 8 August.

Mamelodi Sundowns will start its season away fighting their nemesis, Platinum Stars; while Orlando Pirates has a tricky encounter against SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The draw was held at the league’s head offices using a fancy new scheduling system; the scheduling of these fixtures involves no human interference so that the schedule cannot be manipulated.

The newly-promoted teams Golden Arrows and Jomo Cosmos are at home to the University of Pretoria and away to Maritzburg United respectively.

These fixtures are yet to be presented to the league’s executive committee for approval and publication, and to the broadcasters who could make minor adjustments.

Absa Premiership opening round:

Free State Stars vs Black Aces; Polokwane City vs Bloem Celtic; Platinum Stars vs Mamelodi Sundowns; Chippa United vs Kaizer Chiefs; Bidvest Wits vs Ajax Cape Town; Golden Arrows vs AmaTuks; SuperSport vs Orlando Pirates; and Maritzburg United vs Jomo Cosmos.
